Connaught Place, popularly known as CP, is steeped in imperial and independent Indian history as being the heart of Delhi, with its rich culture, food legacies, and business & commerce. Odeon Cinema has always stood out right since the 1930s and has long established itself as a landmark in the city, and now Odeon Social hopes to succeed its landmark legacy.
Odeon Social has taken its design inspiration from how places in CP used to be – which are now fast disappearing. It transports you back to the time where things were slow and gentle and ‘socializing’ meant chit-chatting over endless cups of chai/coffee. Keeping with Social’s design ethos of minimum intervention and maximum upcycling, all elements used in the space have been sourced from schools and offices in and around CP and Central Delhi.
Just like CP, Social sees a transition through the day – from a buzzing workspace building on creative disruptions, it transforms seamlessly into your favourite neighbourhood bar and café. The space takes you back to an era where people waited for the mail, booked trunk calls to relatives in another state and used whiteners over typewriter errors.
The heritage of the location of Odeon befits the drive and innovation of those pushing boundaries. Reviving CP’s café and bar culture is what #OdeonSocial is all about - resurrection with innovative insurrection.
